RΛZΞR is more than just the world's leading brand in gaming. RΛZΞR was founded in 1998 in San Diego, California by CEO Min-Liang Tan and President Robert "RΛZΞRguy" Krakoff in a tiny shared office with a couple other gamers. " As per the escalation team, if the power adapter is plugged in, the fans will not turn off.A subreddit for discussion of RΛZΞR brand gaming products. Officially, if the laptop is plugged in, the fans will never switch off: I've raised a support ticket with Razer and waiting for a response.Įdit 3: I got a response from Razer's support. When running on battery everything is fine. The fans speed up to cool it down, but then never slow down unless I do a reboot. So it's definitely not overheating, tbf at 45*C I'd expect the fans to be completely off.Įdit 2: So the issue appears to be related to running the laptop plugged in. About 45 or so on the CPU and 45-48 on the dGPU. It's great for gaming, but when working from home all day, the last thing I want is a jet engine on my desk when opening an Excel file.Įdit: Forgot to mention - temperatures are actually fine. ![]() Not unheard of for gaming laptops.Īny suggestions? Otherwise I think I'll look into selling this laptop. Sometimes fans do slow down, so it's possible this is just an incredibly loud laptop. I'm not convinced that this is an issue with the device (yet), so haven't requested an RMA. I haven't been able to find a way to adjust the fan speed (or in fact, to even measure how fast they are running), but compared to this my old Bl(7700HQ) is essentially fanless. I've made a video recording where you can hear the fan noise at idle: It doesn't help that the fans have a slightly high-pitched tone that tends to make them much more noticeable, even at lower rpm. Undervolted the CPU by 0.100, but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. I went through the Power Options, set the cooling policy to Passive, even set all the settings for plugged in, to be identical to those for battery power. Sometimes if I switch to battery power, the fans slow down or even turn off, but not always and never when it's plugged in. ![]() I swear this thing is like having a little jet engine in your living room, and I'm talking about idle / non demanding tasks like having 1-2 tabs open in Chrome. ![]() Overall, things are good, with the exception of the fan noise. So I recently got the new 2020 base model with 1660Ti. You can do so by simply clicking flair under your link!
